DTF Transfer FAQs
Here's all the information you will need to know about our DTF Transfers! :)
🖤 What are DTF transfers?
Direct-to-film printing is a relatively new technique that is growing in popularity! Direct To Film (DTF) transfers brings together the best of all worlds - highly durable, versatile across various fabric types, and maintains its vibrancy over time. DTF is a type of transfer that is printed onto a clear film using water-based inks that can later be pressed onto a garment or other blank items. DTF transfers can be made in single and full color images. DTF transfers can be placed on any color garments from light to dark and can be applied to ANY material. There's NO weeding or designing and VERY little effort is needed. Simply just press and go! It's that quick, easy and simple!! DTFs are nothing like vinyl and screen prints. It's a whole different world over here in the DTF world. We print our DTF transfers with a huge commerical grade printer. DTF transfers take a special kind of heat and you need HEAVY pressure when pressing them, so much pressure that it should be hard to close and open and that is how you will know you are doing the correct amount of pressure. When we're talking DTF durability...cracking, peeling, or fading shouldn't be a concern and should last for not weeks, not months, but YEARS! With regular use and standard washing/drying, a DTF print can typically last between 50-100 washes. With proper care the print can last the LIFETIME of the garment!! Now of course there's always depending factors, but this is in normal circumstances.Â
🖤 Applying our transfers?
You MUST use a commercial grade heat press! The use of a cricut heat press or even at home irons are HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED!! In order for the proper application of these transfers, there needs to be that heavy and even pressure to seal in the print. Every heat press is DIFFERENT. If you are new or apprehensive, we always recommend ordering a couple extra transfers, just in case. We are not responsible for operator error.Â
🖤 How to press our transfers?
HOT Peel
-Prepress the material to remove all excess moisture for about 10 seconds
-Pressing temperature varies depending on your heat press but we recommend 285°F-300°F
-Pressing time:Â 12 seconds
-Pressure: Medium/High Â
-Immediately and quickly peel while hot in one smooth motion
-For the second press, cover the transfer with butcher paper, parchment or teflon for about 10 seconds
DISCLAIMER: we recommend doing cold peel for prints that have fine lines/small details and for anything 4" and smaller.Â

🖤 Care instructions after pressing?
Wash inside out on a cool cycle, dry on a low or no heat setting, or hang dry to increase the longevity of the transfer. The less heat that is used on the garment, the longer the graphic will look vibrant and the less wear it will have! :)
NO FABRIC SOFTENER!
